Adobe Launches Creative Suite 6 and the Creative Cloud!

Layers Magazine

It’s here! It’s here! Tonight Adobe has launched the next versions of their Creative Suite – CS6. On top of this, Adobe has made an _awesome_ addition to this by augmenting their Creative Cloud offering. In short, for a monthy price, you can get *ALL* of the Adobe Apps, installed on your desktop whenever you want. Comparing the price of the subscription version versus getting all of the boxed copies of Master Collection is going to make it a wonderful time for people to jump in the Creative Suite game. Totally excited!

Tomorrow at 10am Pacific (1PM Eastern) Adobe will have a live streaming event showing all of this off. Click here to register: http://adobe.ly/HUScFz

NAPP will also be hosting a series of Webinars all this week on Photoshop CS6.  To see them go to the Photoshop CS6 Learning Center!

App Developer Offers Handy High-Res PSD File of iPad GUI Elements for Mockups

MacRumors iPhone Blog
App developers Geoff Teehan and his team created this high resolution Photoshop file to help them when mocking up ideas for app designs. The file includes full-resolution elements of buttons, keyboards, and all the other user interface elements that are available to iOS developers.

Instead of keeping the file for themselves -- which would be understandable -- Teehan decided to share it with the larger development community. The team has previously other versions of the file, as well, including one for the iPhone 4S.

In 2008 we released our first iOS PSD. We continue to do it, not only because we find useful, but because we think a lot of other designers do too. In fact, over the past four years they’ve been downloaded millions of times. It’s become our little thank you to an industry that has given us so much. We’re really proud to be releasing our latest version today. It’s based on iOS 5.1 and includes hundreds of retina assets available natively on the platform. In addition to the GUI assets, you’ll find perfectly scaled ‘New’ iPads to help you create the apps we’ll come to love in the future.
The file is 35.71MB, designed for Photoshop CS6. The iPad GUI PSD (Retina Display) can be downloaded from Teehan+Lax's blog.

Photoshop CS5 Smart Objects Workshop - Make Amazing, Nondestructive Transformations - 3 Free Videos | PhotoshopSupport.com

http://www.photoshopsupport.com/photo shop-blog/12/04/12-smart-objects.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=f eed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ThePhotoshopBlog+%28The+Photoshop+Blog%29
Here are 3 free videos from Photoshop CS5 Smart Objects Workshop Make Amazing, Nondestructive Transformations. Most Photoshop artists don¹t make use of Smart Objects, and thus miss out on a potentially very powerful tool. With Smart Objects you can create a complex transformation once and then swap out the contents for any artwork you choose. (If you choose to purchase this product, make sure to use our exclusive discount coupon code PSSV2B for an instant 20% discount.) It¹s the ideal method for simplifying and speeding up repetitive tasks, and it allows you to create templates that can be repurposed as many times as you wish. In this illuminating workshop, Photoshop artist and author Steve Caplin shows you how you can use Smart Objects to enhance almost all your Photoshop work. Introduction to Smart Objects What Are Smart Objects? Starting with a regular image layer, we'll create our first Smart Object in this video. We'll then see how scaling and rotating both layers produces strikingly different results. Complex Distortion Waving the Flag We can take Smart Objects even further when we combine Image Warp distortion with Smart Filters. In this lesson we'll begin by distorting an American flag so it maps onto our photographed flag. Smart Objects in the Workflow Replacing the Covers This video shows how simple it is to replace the covers in our Reader's Digest project. We can copy the new cover to the clipboard, then paste it into the Smart Object - the reflection appears automatically. Then it's simply a matter of repeating the process.

[source: LGW]
