While most guitar hangers aren't particularly expensive, they aren't always the best looking—they usually consist of an ugly panel with long arms sticking out. For something a bit cleaner, you can just use two minimalistic towel hangers.
This hack was originally created to hang Rock Band controllers, which, while an effective use of space (mine sit awkwardly on the floor behind my speakers), isn't necessarily for everyone. The nice thing is that even if you'd prefer not to hang your controllers on the wall (or if you don't play Rock Band), you can apply the same idea to a regular electric guitar.
Just screw some IKEA Baren hangers into the wall, spaced out far enough for your guitar head to fit. It's much better looking than most of the hangers you'd get today. You might want to add some padding if you're worried about the finish on your guitar, but if you just need a place to store your cheap electric gutiar, this'll do in a pinch (and for under $5).
